Commissions »
I disagree with people who have the impression that artists who do commissions are compromising their work. Some artist’s work may be too personal for commissions, and I respect that, however, I find commissions challenging and delightful!
If someone sees a work of mine with a composition they are drawn to but with colors they are not (or vice versa), I love the challenge of making something that would speak to them. As far as compromising my vision, I would never make a piece that I wasn’t proud to put my name on.
In the last several weeks, I have had the pleasure to work on two big commissions. The first one came about because a woman found a piece on my website that was, unfortunately, sold. I ended up making her two pieces similar to the one she liked, with a slight tweak in color. When I delivered them, we were both very pleased with how it looked on her walls.
The commission I am working on now is based off of a piece of mine called “yellow rock daffodil”. These folks loved the composition but were looking for something bigger with different hues. I visited the room they were looking to buy a piece to hang. We chose some colors and I hope they like what I’ve been working on, because I do!
Below are some photos of these commissions.
