Gifting Fine Art – A Hopeful Trend

Gifting Fine Art – A Hopeful Trend

This weekend I have had three particularly rewarding sales experiences.  First, I was able to deliver a small painting to a 5 day old baby girl named Nora (officially my youngest collector!).  It was a gift from her Grandfather, who believed a piece of artwork would be a thoughtful, uniquely special, birth gift.  And I agree!

Next, I was able to have lunch with a great couple who were deciding which pieces they wanted, after putting my website on their wedding registry.  Their guests seemed to really love the idea, and many of them bought gift credits with me so the newlyweds could pick out what work they liked best.  What a cool couple to include fine art as a part of their registry!

Tonight I have a studio meeting with a gal whose four friends pooled their money and bought a gift certificate with me for her birthday.  They told me they knew she loved my work and they wanted to get her something special.

I’d like to think this will become a growing trend.  Living in a society that can offer so many items that are cheaply made and easy to acquire, perhaps things like fine art and craft will become a more sought after for thoughtful gifts. Of course, being an artist, I am a bit biased, but I like to think that fine art as a gift is not only unique and special, it comes with it some really great energy.  Try it out.  Surround yourself with things made with purpose, thought and commitment.  They really do possess a different feel that those things made in factories.  Really!

I love this post so much I must share it! I continually try to promote the idea that we don’t need more plastic stuff. That local and handmade mean more. I am so glad people found new ways to incorporate art into their gift giving. And I would be thrilled if I had a gift of your art instead of more scented candles. ;)

I love this idea as a trend……especially since most people who truly love art….don’t always have the funds to purchase :) and by gifting it makes everyone happy! I love it!
