This winter, one of my goals is to broaden my selling area. Though I love that Minnesotans have a wonderful art scene, I would like to begin to sell work to markets further away.
Here is the tricky part; shipping paintings to galleries is expensive! And, if those pieces don’t sell, I have to pay to have them shipped back. This can potentially be a big financial stab.
Online selling can be tricky too, because people often (and understandably) want to see the work in person before purchasing.
Anyone have any insights on this issue? I could really use the advice!

Hey all,
I’ve had several people complain that my site has too many sold items and not enough pieces available. I’m working on it! It’s tough to keep everything updated. I’m thinking I may change the site to have just two galleries, one for pieces sold and one for pieces available. Thoughts?

I’ve had several folks ask whether or not the work on my site is updated. I’m embarrassed to say, it is woefully out of date! I plan to work on it in the next few weeks. I promise I will let you all know when info is a bit more current! Thanks for being patient!

I just received postcards for my exhibition at the Bloomington Art Center that is coming up in a few weeks. Part of my job is to manage a mailing list. I am LOUSY at managing a mailing list.
First of all, who gives out their home address anymore? Hence, I have very few folks on my old-school, an-actual-mail-carrier-delivers-it-by-hand list. It’s too bad – getting actual mail these days is sort of a treat, especially beautifully printed postcards about art exhibits.
One would think, then, that keeping a digital mailing list would be easier. Not for this gal. I have the best intentions, I really do. I always think “oh, I’ve got to get them on my mailing list”. But, like with many of my thoughts, they last 4.2 seconds and then are quickly forgotten.
Because of my lack of organization, I sincerely apologize if you are one of my collectors who have thought: “Wonder why I never hear anything from her”??
I’d like anyone who would like to be on my mailing list (either snail mail, digital or both) to email me with your info. I promise I will work harder to keep this stuff organized!
Also, I have tried a few mailing list apps and have found them to be very difficult to use. If any of you have a (free) mailing list program you like, please share!
